Control System For The Rail Cleaner. |
|
· The electronic control system is required to drive the machine in the correct position to clean the rail prior to welding. · Electronically it places a set of cleaning heads gently onto the train rail line using pneumatics. · During cleaning the rust and scale is removed by powerful electronically controlled electric motors that spin at speeds exceeding that of a normal motor. · This cleaning process ensures the welding electrodes can make a good electrical contact with the rail. · By the use of electronics the cleaning heads scour the rail until it is cleaned well in excess of what is required for the welding process and giving a huge safety margin. · Once the rail line is cleaned the machine then removes the scouring heads and retracts them back into a safe position so that section of rail can be sent down the roller conveyor for welding. · The electronics is capable of bringing on safety lights, working with safety gates and in general helping to protect the operator from the dangers of flying particles. · AA Sparky personnel saw the efficiency potential, conceived the idea and persuaded the company involved to run with the concept. · Now, into the second year the machine has a fail free history. · The concept has removed one man full time from the process and left the other operator some free time to complete other checks and paperwork. |
